Go start hunting your garage folks! We’re just one week away from the big event, pull out some stuff to sell, make room for the new gear for next season or try out getting on a bike for the first time. Whatever you’re looking for, it can probably be had at the Fall 2010 San Diego VeloSwap.
Also a reminder, we have The IRC here to collect bikes, parts and other donations including possibly your time. Check them out here.
Final note for you, in case you haven’t heard, Adams Avenue Bicycles will be hosting it’s annual CycloCross at the Velodrome Race the day before. Saturday, October 30th, come on out in your black cat costume and join AAB and Urban CycloCross for a great day of racing, bring your cowbells folks!
At this fall’s event we will be welcoming volunteers from The International Rescue Committee; an organization which provides assistance to resettled refugees and asylees from Burma, Somalia, Iraq, Darfur, and Sudan. They are on a mission to collect for bicycles for many of high school and middle school refugees who have to walk more than 40 minutes to get to school. The IRC will have a booth set-up at the event to collect unwanted bike parts and bicycles; if you have anything to donate there will be donation boxes inside and outside the swap meet. So please bring anything you could contribute and if you have unwanted stuff at the end of the event, they’d be happy to take it off your hands. Check out more on their mission here: International Rescue Committee.
